Dr Ahmed Kaithal Shahir MBBS, MRCP(UK), FRACP is a consultant nephrologist and a fellow of Royal Australasian college of Physicians since 2011. Popularly called as "Shahir", Dr Shahir has trained in Nephrology, Hypertension and Internal Medicine including Transplantation, Obstetric Medicine at centres of excellence in NSW and Victoria in Australia including Liverpool Hospital, John Hunter hospital, Footscray hospital and worked at Westmead hospital and Wollongong hospital.
Dr Shahir regularly teaches medical students of Australian National University and University of Notre Dame, NSW. He is also an examiner for both the universities. He is currently a senior lecturer and acting co discipline leader of medical education at the University of Notre Dame.
Currently Dr Shahir is working as a Visiting Medical Officer in Medicine at Auburn District Hospital and Goulburn Base hospital and also as Consultant Physician and Nephrologist in private rooms in the Western/Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury as well as Goulburn areas.
Dr Shahir also had worked earlier as a staff specialist Nepean & Blue Mountains Hospital, NSW as well as had honorary appointments at Westmead hospital. Earlier in career, Dr Shahir has worked/trained in Footscray and Sunchine hospitals in Melbourne, John Hunter Hospital in New Castle and various hospitals and clinics in India, Riyadh, Doha and Redditch UK.
